TERI- BCSD India's Second Executive Committee Meeting for the year 2011-12

Summary

TERI-BCSD India organized its Second Ex-Com (Executive Committee) meeting for the year 2011-12 on 18 August 2011 at the premises of Hindustan Construction Company Ltd in Mumbai. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Nitin Desai, Chairperson, TERI-BCSD India and co-chaired Mr Arun Seth, Vice Chair TERI-BCSD India & Chairman, BT India Pvt. Ltd. & Alcatel Lucent India. Mr Ajit Gulabchand Chairman & MD, Hindustan Construction Co Ltd hosted this meeting.

The Ex-Com meeting was attended by Mr Tantra Narayan Thakur, Chairman & Managing Director, PTC India Ltd; Mr Rajeev Dubey President (HR), After-Market & Corporate Services, Mahindra Group; Mr N R Krishna Kumar, Director of Operations, India and Middle East, Det Norske Veritas AS; Mr CN Raghupathi, India Business Head, Infosys Technologies Ltd(Over Video); Mr Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Managing Director, CLP Power India Private Limited. Special Guests, Mr Pramoda Karkal, Vice President& MD, Johnson Controls (I) Pvt Ltd; Mr Samir Karnik, Associate - Responsible Banking, Yes Bank and Ms Niyati Sareen, General Manager - Corporate Social Responsibility, HCC Ltd were also present in the meeting.

The meeting discussed the actions taken on last Ex Com Meeting held in April 2011 and the list of ongoing and future activities of TERI-BCSD. During the discussion, member CEOs briefed the Ex Com on following theme specific activities being championed by them:

  • Catalyzing GRIHA-PTC India
  • India Energy Efficiency Forum- Johnson Controls
  • ICT as a Game Changer- Alcatel Lucent, HCL, KPIT Cummins and Tata Teleservices
  • INSPIRE (Creating ICT based Knowledge Platform)- Infosys
  • Managing Water as Resources- HCC

The Ex Com was introduced with the overarching theme of World CEO Sustainability Summit 2012. Ex Com member further suggested that "water" is an area where the TERI Business Council should play an important role to achieve its goal in prioritizing water use efficiency among Indian industries in the same degree as energy efficiency.

The next Ex Com meeting will be held on 25 November 2011 Bangalore to be hosted by TERI BCSD member Infosys Technologies Ltd. It will focus on the progress reports of championed activities.
