Editorial by Arupendra Nath Mullick, Vice President - TERI CBS
It is an opportune time for us to connect with you on our choices – that we will make for tomorrow. Unveiled last week in South Korea, the IPCC Special Report highlights different mitigation pathways that are in line with meeting the 1.5°C goal and they all assume substantial demand-side mitigation, and behavioural and lifestyle changes to be able to limit warming to 1.5°C. This poses significant risks and opportunities for businesses operating in India, as our economy remains closely linked to the natural resource base.

Our Council for Business Sustainability serves as the interface for our research work to be connected to the corporate world and enables a two-way communication and engagement. TERI CBS engages with the core issue of what businesses must do to shape and lead in sustainability.

Your active participation and continued support motivates us to remain abreast to the latest developments in the field of sustainability while enable the transition of our know-how to show-how projects for our Council members.

We are delighted to have received constructive inputs on our future areas of work from the Chief Sustainability Officers of Indian companies from within our Council. We hope that our first knowledge report on Sustainability Super Trends 2018 and the series of Thought Leadership Webinar series continues to enrich your sustainability journey.

Our choices for tomorrow should take cognizance of the changing environment and actions by peers – which is captured in our second newsletter for FY 18-19. We look forward to your suggestions and opinions.
